Our Mission

We are YAMS

The Young Artists Music Society (YAMS) is a youth-driven performance group under Compassion Bridge Corporation, a startup non-profit organization. YAMS provides music services to senior centers and people who love music but have limited access to concerts. YAMS’ goals are to share our love of music with others and use music to help others.

Lucy Chen

Lucy is the President of YAMS, and she manages all department functions as well as works with the executive team to come up with new ideas for YAMS events. Lucy is very passionate about music – she composes music and plays the piano and violin, and often arranges music for YAMS. Other than music, Lucy enjoys learning about economics and business, and she loves skiing in the winter. 

Yixuan Li

Yixuan Li, an 11th grader at Montgomery Blair High School, is a Co-President of YAMS. He has played the violin for 9 years and has won regional and national competitions. He is a violinist in the MCYO Philharmonic and the Blair Quartet. Other than volunteering and playing music, Yixuan enjoys doing robotics and walking his dogs.

Amy Chen

Amy Chen, an 11th grader at Winston Churchill is the video editor of YAMS and works with the rest of the video team to create promotional and advertisement‎ videos, informational videos, virtual performance videos, etc. She plays violin in the MCYO Philharmonic. In her free time, she enjoys fashion design, drawing, and playing music.

Christopher Ren

Christopher Ren is the Vice President of YAMS, where he works to keep track of the YAMS concerts and events. He is a junior at Wootton High School and has been playing clarinet for 7 years and piano for 10 years. Some of his hobbies include playing tennis and watching YouTube.

Deborah Zhu

Secretary

Deborah Zhu is the secretary of YAMS, where she records times and takes notes during meetings. She is currently a sophomore at Montgomery Blair High School and has been playing the violin for many years. In her free time, she enjoys writing and going on walks in her neighborhood.

Niuniu Zhang

Graphic Design

Niuniu Zhang is the officer in charge of Social Media, where she is responsible of posting for our YAMS socials, and she also helps with graphic design. She is currently a 9th grader at Holton-Arms school. She has been singing at a competitive level since she was 6 years old. In her free time she likes to walk her dogs, sing, draw, and bake.

Marilyn Huang

Graphic design

Marilyn Huang is the Graphic Designer of YAMS. She designs monthly newsletters and social media posts for the YAMS website and socials. She is currently a junior at Wootton High School; she has been playing cello and piano for eight years. She enjoys helping others and spreading love in her community. She likes to grind Survive 99 nights in a forest, Brawl Stars, and Clash Royale.

William Hsieh

Graphic Design

William, a tenth grader at Richard Montgomery HS, studies piano with Dr. Martin Labasevitch. He has performed in venues such as the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, The Embassy of Bulgaria, DiMenna Center in New York and the Conservatoire of Music in Puerto Rico. He has also won top prizes at major competitions like the Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition, the International Young Artist Piano Competition and has participated in The NSO’s SMI program this past summer. William is a graphic designer for YAMS, and creates a multitude of social media and promotional content for the organization.

Aidan Song

Web developer

Aidan Song is the Web Developer, where he consistently updates the YAMS website with important information. He is an 11th grader at Wootton High School and has been playing violin for 8 years. In his free time, he likes photography, skiing, running and hiking. 

Stella Li

Web developer

Stella Li is a web developer for YAMS, where she keeps the websites updated with new information. She is currently a freshman at Montgomery Blair, and has been playing violin for seven years. In her free time, she enjoys playing volleyball, reading, and baking. 

Maggie Yao

Social media

Maggie Yao is the Social Media Officer of YAMS, where she manages YAMS’ social media accounts and helps create engaging graphics and posts. She is currently a sophomore at Wootton High School and has been playing the cello for several years. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and shopping.

Hanrong Hu

Social Media

Hanrong Hu is the Social Media Manager of YAMS. She is responsible for promoting YAMS on social media through content creation. She is currently a junior at Montgomery Blair High School, and has been playing violin for many years. 

Daphne Wen

Senior Advisor

Daphne is a Senior Advisor and a former Co-President of YAMS. She works closely with the executive team to manage the officer team and plan events. Daphne has been playing violin since age four and is a part of various ensembles. Outside of YAMS and violin, Daphne enjoys swimming year-round and playing volleyball with her friends.

Dan Huang

Senior Advisor

Dan is a Senior Advisor and a former Co-President of YAMS. This year he will be advising the executive team and helping them organize concerts and activities. Dan is a Flutist and Bassist and has participated in professional and scholastic ensembles. He is also the Founder and Music Director of the 270 Jazz Orchestra, an independent student jazz ensemble.
